So, it’s coming up to your bully’s birthday, and you’re wondering what to do, to make the day special for them, right? Well, wonder no more, my friends, because I’ve created the ultimate list of ways to celebrate your bulldog’s birthday, and I really do think you’re going to love them. As will your dog!

21 ways to celebrate your bulldog’s birthday

Indoor activities, outdoor activities, food, baking, favourite people…

There’s a birthday activity for everyone and every dog on this list, so have a peruse and leave your thoughts in the space for comments below this post. We here at Planet Bulldog can’t wait to hear what you think.

So, without any further messing around, let’s get straight to the list of ways to celebrate your bulldog’s birthday party.

Dog park day

There’s a doggy park not far from Frank the Bulldog, called Rainham Dog Field. You can hire the field for 55 minutes at a cost of £8, and you can bring an additional car and up to four dogs for £12. There are plenty of other options to choose from, and there are also plenty of other dog-specific fields or parks for hire all over the UK.

Hiring these parks or fields means that you get them completely to yourself and your dog(s). No other dogs are running around, so there’s no danger of fights or injuries. With plenty of space, all completely enclosed, your bulldog is safe to run as fast and as much as they like, without worrying about anyone or any other dog.

At-home ball pit

This is a great way to celebrate your bulldog’s birthday if you have an old kid’s ball pit lying around your home, attic, basement, shed, etc. Give it a clean and present it to your bully on their special day and watch as they have hours of fun playing around, rolling around, and throwing around the plastic balls.

Now, you might want to watch the size of the balls and the size of your dog’s mouth. If they’re the wrong kind of size, they can get stuck in their mouths. Thankfully, most of the balls that are designed for kids collapse relatively easily. It’s just a thing you’ll need to bear in mind.

Day at the (dog-friendly) beach

Fancy a day at the beach with your bulldog for their birthday? There are several beaches up and down the United Kingdom that allow dogs – either at certain points of the year or all year-round.

The Beach Guide is a great resource for finding dog-friendly beaches and their seasons, so I definitely recommend having a closer look. They’re categorised by country and county, too.

Luxury dog hotel

The Canine Country Club is a luxury doggy hotel based in Tonbridge, Kent, and it is quite the adventure for a boisterous and adventurous bulldog! Morning walks, breakfast, playtime, grooming, lunchtime walks, chew toys, rest, activity time, dinner time, more rest, evening walks, and plenty more fun things to book, it might just be the perfect place to treat your bully baby.

There are three suites available: Clubhouse, Penthouse, and Executive. (We love this so much!) You can even book a whole host of extras, such as chauffeur service to and from your front door, pampering bath and blow-dry, beach walks, wood walks, and more, you might want to stay there yourself alongside your four-legged friend!

There are plenty of five-star luxury dog hotels up and down the country, offering services like this and more. It’s definitely a worthy birthday treat to consider.

Pamper and groom day

Why not give your pampered pooch the full treatment for their birthday this year? The full groom treatment sounds good, right? Massage, shampoo, haircut, nails trimmed and returned back home smelling like a million bucks!

It’s as much for your benefit as it is for theirs!

BYOD party (bring your own dog)

Do you know lots of pet parents? Specifically, dog parents? Why not have a party – a BYOD (bring your own dog) party? There are logistics to bear in mind, of course. Do you have the space for a handful (or more) dogs plus their human companions? Does one of the other doggy parents have a bigger garden or house?

You might also need to bear in mind which dogs get along with which. You don’t want your bulldog’s mortal enemy at their birthday party, do you?

Pick-your-own-toy at the pet shop

What better way to treat your doggo than to take them to the toy store and let them pick their own goodies? Pets at Home and other similar places are often dog-friendly, so as long as they’re on the lead, you and your four-legged friend can have hours or entertainment, picking out and vetoing new toys and more.

For an extra special treat (or serious spoiling,) you could consider three toys for a third birthday, four toys for a fourth birthday, so on and so forth.

Dog-safe baking day

What better day to create a bunch of delicious baked snacks for your bulldog than on their birthday?

Cupcakes, biscuits, larger cakes, peanut butter blondies, sweet potato pastries – you name it, there’s a dog-friendly and safe version of it. So, why not spend the day baking some sweet treats for your doggo, letting them taste test them along the way?

If you’re in need of a few recipes to get you started, here are a few that we’ve collected along the way:

Water park in the garden

Is your bulldog’s birthday in the height of summer? Cooling them down is going to be your first priority, as a proud pet parent, and what better way to do just that – and incorporate lots of fun – than with a do-it-yourself water park in the back garden? Or front garden? Or even your borrowed parents’ garden if necessary?

A paddling pool designed for toddlers or babies is the perfect size for a chonky bulldog, and you could fill it with their favourite toys or balls for extra fun. Additionally, you can throw some ice cubes in there, for fun and cooling down purposes.

Sprinkler systems, water pistols, and dog-specific water tools are all great ways of having fun and cooling off in the hot summer sun!

Favourite people party

Does your bulldog have a soft spot for Grandma? Does your nephew or niece bring joy to your four-legged friend? Who are your bulldog’s favourite people? Once you’ve worked that out, invite them a “party!” A few glasses of lemonade, some dog-safe snacks… and some people snacks, plus your pup’s favourite people, all makes for the perfect bulldog’s birthday party!

Here’s an extra tip for you, too: make dog-safe bubbles for bubble-blowing toys or pistols. If your bulldog is anything like Frank the Bulldog, they’ll have hours of fun, chasing those bubbles down… but never quite getting to them!

Dog field hire

There are fields, paddocks, and parks up and down the country, in which you can let your bulldog roam free, run as fast as they want to, and not be confined to what their leash allows. You can usually hire them for half-an-hour or an hour, and you can take your dog(s) plus your friends and their dogs, too. (Always read the T&Cs to make sure you’re following all the rules.)

Pupcake station

You’d have a cupcake station at a human birthday party, so why not consider having a doggy-safe pupcake station for your bulldog, their doggy friends, and their human companions/pet parents?

Pet parents can decorate the pupcakes in weird and wonderful ways before then presenting the delicious treats to their four-legged friends.

You could even have a human cupcake station and a doggy cupcake (or pupcake) station right next to it! Just make sure that you don’t get the two mixed up…

Doggy cupcakes probably won’t hurt humans, but human cupcakes can cause great damage to your pupper, and especially if they have chocolate in them!

Treat treasure hunt

Hide treats in random places around the house – as many random places as you can. Then, when your pupper wakes up on their birthday, let them roam free, sniff out the treats, and keep entertained for hours.

You could replace treats with kibble if you don’t want to overload them with calories.

Taste test day

Why not have a day with your dog where you taste test lots of different dog-safe and friendly foods, to see which ones they do and don’t like? This could be things like fruit, vegetables, homemade snacks, and more.

Keep a note of what they do and don’t like, and you won’t ever waste time or ingredients again.

Photobooth fun

Have you ever seen those photobooths at weddings and other functions, that allow you to use props and fun stuff to create brilliant and funny photos that’’ preserve the best memories forever? Well, you could rent one of those to use for your doggo’s birthday party…

Or you could create your own. With a simple bed sheet as a backdrop, lots of fun items from your closet or around the house, and your phone or camera, you could create some brilliant photos for social media (or just to keep,) and you’ll both have a blast in the process!

Well, if your bulldog likes that sort of things, obviously.

Sandpit

If you have a sandpit designed for kids in the shed somewhere, why not get it out, fill it with sand, then let your boisterous bulldog have a good ol’ play around in it? You could even buy one – new or second-hand, depending on your budget. You could also hide or bury your bulldog’s favourite toys in there, to encourage their digging side.

The sandpit will provide hours of fun for your bulldog – and not just on their birthday!

It’s one of those great ways to celebrate your bulldog’s birthday that could also be done on countless other days of the year, and especially in summer.

Agility course

If you have the ability to take your bulldog to an agility course that’s safe for dogs, why not consider doing that for their birthday? Alternatively, you could create your own agility course in the back garden. With a few bits and pieces scattered around, you could make your pupper go up, down, over, under, and anything else you like.

The best bit?

They’ll probably be knackered by the end of it, so they’ll likely sleep well! (More than usual, anyway.)

Pup crawl

A play on the human “pub crawl,” a pup crawl is a visit to all the dog-friendly locations in your area, one after the other. It could be dog-safe shops, cafes, parks, beaches, or anything else you can find.

Take your pup on a pup crawl!

Hide and seek…

But with your doggo’s toy! Make them smell it, so they know the scent and what they’re meant to be looking for, then hide it somewhere bulldog-accessible in the house. Once you’re done, let the doggo out of the room you stashed them in (to hide in peace) and let them wander around the house trying to find it.

You could repeat this action with the same toy multiple times, or you could hide multiple toys in multiple locations.

Pick your own bed

Take your doggo to the pet stores that sell doggy beds, then make them pick the one they like the most. Which one do they move towards first? Sniff? Sit in or besides?

Then, buy them that bed and upgrade their sleeping experience!

Frozen treat station

This is another of the great ways to celebrate your bulldog’s birthday, in my opinion! We’ve had the pupcake station, but you should also consider the frozen treat station! With things like peanut butter ice cubes, doggy-safe frozen yoghurt, fruit pupsicles, and more, your four-legged family members will be able to cool down, snack up, and have fun, all at the same time!

It gives the adults plenty of time to get to the adult treats… like wine!

Frank absolutely LOVES Scoop’s Ice Cream for Dogs by Marshfield Farm. Dog-safe and with added nutrients, the ice cream comes in mint and vanilla flavours… and goes down a right treat!
